April Already and Springtime throw

That month went quick, what happened to March !

What have I been up to, Well I've moved onto yet another throw, the 'powers that be' have told me this is quiet normal not to finish a crochet item before starting the next.  I can see this happening frequently with me.

This is my next project.  Its the Nikki Trench Springtime throw from her Book. (Need to check what the book is). I have to make 300 of this squares before I crochet them all together with a DC.   This is definitely going to be a work in progress.

Mothers day here in the UK was in March. Also both Hubbies and sons birthdays.  In fact all three were within a week of each other, so very busy in this house, cards everywhere.   I was thoroughly spoilt from Oliver, beautiful flowers and a Orla Kiely DAB radio.  Very Retro.  Oliver turned 17 so had his first driving lesson.  He loved it, I on the other hand was very nervous.

And finally, those that know me personally know that I don't do any sport, to be honest if can, I avoid any kind of exercise.  Then one day a few weeks back something click and I though yep I want to run, go figure !  So off I trundled to the local park, along with a download of the NHS couch to 5k pod cast and started running.  Three weeks later a did something to my knee and now I'm unable to run, and to say I'm gutted is an understatement.  Hubby keeps asking who I am and what has happened to his is wife, as I am in the major keep fit mod.

Oh and I had to buy a new pair of running shoes as mine were from the early 90's according to the shop.

Catch up soon, hopefully not so long next time :)

Catch up soon. x

Another crochet Project.

Its been quite a busy couple of day.  I have set up a crocheting group.  Oh yes, I am well a truly 'hooked'. We meet once a month at my house, there are 8 of us all together, and could raise to more. Only four of us managed the first meet up due to the bad weather.  It was good fun though, lots of chats and giggles.

On to other projects.  Firstly, operation clean up is still going strong, I thinking I am just over half way on sorting out my craft room. What a mess,  Boy do I have some stuff.  Lots went on the Face book selling pages, no doubt to be spent on more craft stuff.  When its all finished and neat and tidy I will put it on here. Whenever, that might be.   Secondly, I finished a little dog blanket for a crafting friend who is now the owner of the cutest little Cockapoo called Olly, so I decided to make a little dog blanket for him.

Isn't he lovely.

Catch again soon.

Wow, where has the past week gone?

I cannot believe its been over a week since my last post.  Weather hasn't been brilliant.  It snowed just a little bit, nothing like they have had on the east coast of the US.  I've been wishing it would snow all week but didn't want any today.

Tonight is the first night of the 'Happy Hookers Crocheting Group' meet up, all bar one of use are complete beginners, and I include me in that group to.  So hopefully weather permitting, I should have a some happy hookers around mine tonight crocheting, well maybe a little crocheting and a lot of chatter.

I have a work in progress on my hook at the moment, its a surprise for someone, I've nearly finished, the the recipient has received it I will post a piccie on here.

Catch up soon everybody, and stay warm x

Busy day in the Ayres household.

Firstly,  the doorbell goes this morning, its the postman with two parcels both exactly the same.  Odd, couldn't think for the life of me what I had ordered, figured it must be for hubby.  Then spotted my name on both. Imagine my surprise when I opened them to find these inside.

Our poppies from the installation at the Tower of London titled 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red'. These are in memory of my and my husbands great uncles who both died in the First World War and are buried in northern France.

I had the honor back in November of being a volunteer  for the de-installion.  The most amazing day, times of remembering, tears and laughter.

Couple of pictures of that day and the day in September when hubby and I and a few hundread thousand other people went to see them before they were removed after Armistice Day.

more to come.....

Back again today, here is the second, All bar the tie in of ends, the finished baby blanket for a friends niece.

Spring Cleaning

This is what I shall be doing most of the weekend, sorting out my craft room.

What a mess. How on earth did I manage it let it get to this stage. I cannot even see the carpet. Reorganise, declutter, clean and toss. Yep, I’m getting rid of stuff, lots of it. So if you don't hear from me for a while, you will know why :) :)

Have a good weekend xx

Work in Progress (WIP)

A couple of the WIP for January.  Both of them I am hoping to finish by the end of the month. Yikes! These and a complete overhaul of my Craft Room, thats so bad, I cannot see the carpet !

The first one is my new crocheting project. When finished it is going to be a pram blanket.  I've used Stylecraft DK in White, Silver and Sherbet.  The stitch I have used is called shell stitch, very quick and easy, its just  5 trebles into the same stitch and one slip stitch.  I'm thinking this pattern would look fab in a scarf or shawl.

The second is the start of a quilt.  I've had this Jelly Roll for quiet a few years, I think its called Arcadia. It wasn't until a friend of mine asked me to show her how to sew because she wanted to make a quilt that I dug this out.  It obviously needs the quilting done and boarder, but I am liking it so far.  My big Sis has her eye of this.  We shall have to see :)

Right off to make supper.  Catch up soon x

New Year for .....

eat less,
move more,
buy less,
make more,
stress less,
laugh more,
feel bless,
love more,
find a quiet spot every day
and breathe.

Inspiring Words from Lucy at Attic24, check out her blog

Happy New Year Everybody.

2015 for me means getting organised, having a declutter and doing more things that I love, and I love crafts, no really I do :), all kinds. Last year I tried quiet a few new crafts, some worked, crocheting and furniture painting for example others did not, but that's another story. So I decided 2015 is going to be the year of 'Ally Crafting More'.

One of the crafts I learnt in 2014 is Crocheting. I thought I would 'throw' (pardon the pun) myself in at the deep end and make a throw as my very first project. If I may say so myself I'm rather liking it. Don't you just love the colours. I was directed to a Facebook page called My Craft Life by a couple of my crafty friends. Anita not only sells wool but her page is full of brilliant tutorials on how to crochet. .

The first row took me nearly a hour! but by time I was half way not only could I do a row in about 5 mins I didn't need my glasses :)

Busy with this....

I haven't done much crafting over the past couple of weeks, and boy have I missed it. I have been up to my elbows in Builders dust and wet paint.  We are doing some changes to our bedroom and dressing room.

I finished painting the bedroom this week, it took more coats than I thought, next I'm tackling the dressing room.  Being a victorian house the ceilings are rather high, so it does not help that I'm only 5'3" !!!!

Here are a couple of before photos. When its all done I will post the finished photos. It will not be finished until the end of May when the other wardrobes are being fitted.

Right, off to do some sanding.

Have a lovely weekend everybody. x

First is Elaines lovely Bright Card - don't you just love those colours

Then Sharon's.  Which I think is very Orla Kiely, which I love.

Lindas Tag,which will look fab on a vintage LO
How cute is this blinged Teapot on Sarah's creation

This is Karin card, and has so much lovely detail
which is just not showing in this bad light

Buzy bee

Oh I have been a busy bee over the past few days. It started off with my birthday, which was lovely.  This included lunch with the girls the day before my birthday at Chapter One and then lunch and spot of retail therapy on my birthday with my SIL and finally dinner with the boys the day after! Phew to much eating me thinks. I had some gorgeous presents especially from hubby who bought me an handbag, those that know me know that I partial to handbag or two  and bless him, Oliver bought me some wonderful PJ's from one of my favourite shops The White Company.

This weekend was spent clearing out our bedroom and dressing room for the builders to start work today, and boy did that take longer than I thought.   Having a complete change around with new wardrobes fitted in the dressing room and I'm painting our old chest of drawers with the fantastic Annie Sloan paint.  Will post before and after piccies when its finished.

Ok so moving, here's another LO from Gogo Getaway Past.  Sam's fabulous Sailing class.

Oliver at Chipstead Lakes, he really got into his sailing until he went out with his dad in his boat and dad ended up in A&E!!!! No more sailing for Oliver.  Not even and ferry :)

Right off to put the washing on the line before it rains AGAIN!

My 6th Gogo Getaway

On the last weekend of March I attended my 6th Gogo Getaway Retreat in Hertfordshire. Three days of scrapping, chatting and laughing.  BLISS.  Each retreat just gets better and better.

This year I was well an truly on a roll, not only did I finish my badge before the retreat (shock horror), I finished all my LO's at the retreat other than Sheena's mini book.

So without further a do, here are a few samples of my LO's.

Enjoy. xx

As the title says this was Nicola's 'Come Dine with... class'. With what is quiet a busy picture I was a bit worried this LO would have to much going on, but as always Nicolas never fails.   A few sets of cutlery were 'borrowed' from the hotel to help with the misting. lol

Class Kit: Studio Calico, Bazzil and American Crafts

Lisa class 'When I was a child' was great.  Although cutting out the spinning wheel seem to tax my brain quiet a bit. Other than a great LO we had the added joy of eating all the old time sweeties, so that we could sick the wrappers onto the LO.  And of course there was a little bit of a Blowing Bubbles competition. I think Diane won that one.

Class Kit: October Afternoon, Bazzill and Jilly Beans

The last class of the retreat on the sunday is a 1 hour class, and trust me when I say, your brain cannot handle much more than an hour.  I love this LO, even though the paper is quiet feminine the colours go great with Olivers' top.  Nicola's 'Spiffing Idea' class.

Class Kit: Create, Bazzill and Doddlebugs,

Class from Previous Getaways

The following two LO's are from previous Gogo Getaways. Although I didn't do the actual classes at the retreat I did win the kits in raffle afterwards.  Happy Bunny :)

First One is Nicolas Class.

Boy my little fella looks soooooooo tired in this piccie.

The second is Eileen's class.

These two were not going to allow a little bit of sun to ruin their games.

I will try and post a few more LO's of this years retreat later today, bit I need to take photos of these first, and the light is quiet poor at the moment so may have to be tomorrow.

Bye x

Stephanies Make and Take

Okay, I know I haven't blogged for a while, but I had to tell you about the fab saturday afternoon I had at the weekend. Lovely Stephanie held a Christmas 'Make and Take' in Essex. We made three cards and a rather cool gift box. Here's the link to her Brilliant blog so you can have a peek. If you haven't seen her blog before boy are you in for a treat, she makes some truly brilliant cards and quiet a few 3d items too. I'm now cyber stalking her Goodle reader.

I also met, Kare, Aimes and Caryn who were brilliant running around find stuff for us and my craft buddy Jeannette, {{{Waves}}} who everytime she went into her craft bag, pulled out another must have craft item, so thanks to her I've now added to my ever increasing christmas list a scorepal cutting mat, a WRMK corner chomper (fab) and a few more must have items from Stampin up, things I missed, how did that happen.

Look out Steven Spielberg

In the last week of the easter holidays DS took part in a week long course of 'Focus of the Arts'. Part of the course was to create your own animation. Boys being boys and 11 years at that, they decided to do Lego of course, and Indiana Jones. Well at the weekend it found its way onto Youtube.

Here's the link, and if you get time can you post a comment on the Youtube post, just for the boys.
